  • Ahuntza is an ocarina that is part of a collection inspired by animals currently inhabiting Spain. It represents the Iberian ibex, an endemic species of the Iberian Peninsula, primarily found in the mountainous areas of Spain and northern Portugal. This ibex has traditionally been an iconic species in Spain, and its recovery has been crucial after being on the brink of extinction in the early 20th century. Currently, it is estimated that there are more than 50,000 Iberian ibexes spread across nearly 30 populations, with the largest numbers found in the southeast of the Peninsula.

Females are smaller and have short horns, while males, which can reach up to 120 kg, have large, spiral-shaped horns.

Their horns can be used to calculate their age, as the "medrones" (strangulations) on the horns indicate the years of life.

Adult males engage in spectacular fights during the breeding season, using their powerful horns in intense combat.

In summary, the Iberian ibex remains an iconic species of the Iberian fauna. Although it has notably recovered from its near extinction, it still faces several challenges, such as diseases and poaching, requiring constant conservation efforts to ensure its survival and stability in the mountain ecosystems of the Iberian Peninsula.
